StartMeUp - A Startup File Manager for Blender

Product Description

StartMeUp: Organize and tame your startup files

Years ago, I made "Cut Mat Studio," (which I'm updating with new stuff for Blender 4.5 and Blender for Octane and will be republishing soon). It's a startup file that has...well, lots and lots of things. But I don't ALWAYS want lots of things, and I also like to have different custom startup files for any purpose imaginable.

Blender has "Application Templates," and they are great but can't be organized in any meaningful way. If you work in a studio and have different setups for different clients, it can get hard to track.

So I made this for all of us: StartMeUp.

It's a simple way to organize and quickly access start up files that you've customized for different purposes. When you're doing animation, your needs will be different than when modelling or video editing, etc. When you're doing work for a specific pipeline, you might make a special start file just for that client or pipeline. But managing all that has been a bit of a pain until now.

StartMeUp adds a new file menu item that pulls in your collection of start files from a directory structure you choose. Managing your files is done easily from the file system; all you do is build a file structure that makes sense to you, and StartMeUp will build its menu and locate the .blend files inside your directory and subdirectories. There's even a search option. You can access it at any time with alt + f (which you can disable in settings if desired).

It also allows you to set favorites and tracks the most recently used start file. A click opens a new file using that startup file as a template; if you shift-click you can open the startup file itself to improve or modify it. Ctrl+Click will add the file to your favorites list (or a remove it from the list if it's there).

It installs via a single zip and has no external dependencies. It's been tested in Blender 2.8 through 4.5 (As well as Blender for Octane).

When combined with Addonis, our in-house Add-on manager (available tomorrow!), you can take your Blender file management to the next level of OCD.

StartMeUp comes localized in English, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, Dutch, Finnish, Ukrainian, Polish, and Russian.

While envisioned for Start File management, it isn't LIMITED to start files. You could instead use it to arrange files that you're using for a big project too. As long as it's a .blend and you've set the folder in settings, it would work that way quite easily: just set your directory in settings and all your project's files are at your command, all the time. It's like having a "new file" menu that you can change at your command in just 2-3 clicks.

StartMeUp will save you time and sanity.
